  1. Apples 241 Donessle Historically there were apple orchards in this area throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s.

  2. Apples Arland Farm 2031 North Service Rd Heritage farm - unsure date of orchards
  3. Apples 118 Tavistock This is a nicely maintained old tree - full of fruit.
  4. Remnant fruit orchards Iroquois Ridge Park south eastern end - not particularly photogenic
  5. Crab apple 42 Lakeshore This crab sits beside the magnolia pictured below (there is an old liburnum and dying lilac nearby)
  6. Basswood 418 Riverside unusual branching habit
  7. American beech collection  Beechwood Forest Ford Drive (and great variety of trees)
  8. Copper beech 1125 The Stables
  9. Copper beech Alexander and Lakeshore Dates to late 1880s. Imported by Alexander Robertson from Stirling, Scotland who acquired an estate (Beardsley's Grove) in 1850 and built a house at 76 Alexander Drive.  It is in poor health but worth seeing. See mention of it in Francis Ahern's Book, Oakville a Small Town (p. 90).
  10. Copper beech 215 Reynolds also interesting gingko in yard (it would be interesting to learn its history)
  11. Copper beech 3202 Cudmore Not a healthy tree but very interesting and photogenic.
  12. Yellow birch 125 Whittington Place seriously gorgeous bark
  13. White birch 2005 Arleigh Highly photogenic
  14. Butternut Carrington Place rare (this is a nominee from last year - but is producing fruit this year).
  15. Black cherry - West Oak Trail South West 180cm quite old
  16. Cottonwood by the harbour 97 Forsythe very tall 35m?
  17.  Cottonwood Kings Wood Park accessed from Baldwin 273cm circumference - probably not that old, but a lovely specimen. (Note Kings Wood Park has some statuesque white pine and lovely stands of black cherry and paper birch)
  18. Tree reaches height of bridge Glen Abbey Golf Course  must hike down to verify species and measure height. The tall tree by the hwy 5 bridge has also been nominated, but I have yet to reach it.

  23. Honey locust row 1565 Old Lakeshore Road 29 trees. Some are the native species with lovely long thorns and awesome bark - great to photograph
  24. Magnolia 42 Lakeshore Dates to 1800s  and is described by Francis Robin Ahern Oakville: A small town 1900-30.
  25. Cucumber magnolia 322 Gloucester not an old tree but certainly worth photographing - Carolinian species

  28. Silver maple Seneca and West Streets are lined with great old trees

  30. Sugar maples West Oak Trails South West track Some seriously beautiful old trees with great holes for owls.

  33. Red oak at Erchless Estate - 8 Navy. This very tall tree 35m was used by surveyors to lay out the Town. Gorgeous old pine on property too.

  55. Crack willow in driveway 1028 Lakeshore There is an American Larch to the left that was apparently planted for the Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee - 1887. (need to verify)
